Easter

Monday, July 1, 2013

We had a great Easter this year, even if it is a busy day.  We started out the morning hunting for Easter baskets and eggs left by the Easter Bunny.  Lauren and Ella were so excited the night before, Lauren could not fall asleep.  She kept asking when that Bunny was going to show up, and she was very nervous that Evelyn was going to scare him away since she was sleeping in her bouncy chair in the living room!  I assured her that even if Evelyn was awake, he would still leave the baskets.  I guess my threatening that Santa and the Easter Bunny won't come until they are asleep has sunk in:)

Next we headed to Grandma and Grandpa Weimert's house for Easter brunch.

And then to Kelly and Dave's for the Krumm celebration.  Luca loved the baby ducks!

Evelyn in her Sunday best!
Luca still loves his baby sister!

Grace holding Evelyn, her youngest cousin...  actually, Fiona may have already arrived at this point!  She was born on Easter Sunday.

Lauren turns 5!

Lauren celebrated her fifth birthday on March 6.  Her rainbow cake was a big hit, and turned out better than I had expected.  It did, however, require much more frosting than I had expected. So rather than running to the grocery store at midnight, we stopped and grabbed the frosting on the way to New Richmond in the morning and I had to finish frosting before the party.  Not a big deal in hindsight, but I forgot the bright rainbow sprinkles I had planned to top it off with.  My mom had some pretty pastel ones that worked, no one complained.

Lauren had her five-year check-up also, and it confirmed what we already knew.  She is a healthy, active kid and is meeting all of her developmental milestones.  She was also a very brave girl and received all of her kindergarten shots.  She weighed in at 40 pounds (50th percentile), and was 44 inches(75th percentile).  This put her BMI at a healthy 30th percentile.

Posing with Evelyn and her new McKenna doll from Grandma Pam.  There have been several doll photo shoots since then, it is always a bit startling when I look through the camera roll on my phone and see new doll pics on there (she is a pretty good photographer:)

Look-A-Likes

As promised, here is picture of Evelyn and Lauren in matching clothes...  Not as similar as I was imagining in my head, but still a pretty good resemblance between the two. Evelyn is in the top photo, Lauren is the bottom one.

We're back!

It's true!  Mommy is going to try to update this blog so you can see what we have been up to.
Stay tuned!

Introducing Evelyn

Monday, March 4, 2013

Evelyn Louise
Feb. 16 201, 1:38am
8 lb. 6 oz.
19 inches long
After much anticipation, Evelyn was born on Feb. 16. I had another quick labor. My water broke at home around 11:00pm, made it to the hospital right at midnight, and she was born an hour and a half later. I was more than surprised to hear baby was a girl! She made me so uncomfortable, I thought for sure it was a boy:) She is much bigger than all our others were, but very adorable with lots of dark hair! Here are some early pictures, hoping to update soon with more recent ones. She has changed so much already!
First time meeting their new sister.
Luca is in love! From the minute he saw her, he wanted to rub her soft hair and give lots of wet kisses! He is still very sweet with her and can't walk by her without giving a smooch.
Lauren is such a good big sister. She knows just what to do. This isn't her first time:)
Ella is so proud to have another sister.

Most are in agreement that she looks just like Lauren when she was a baby. I will have to do a comparison sometime for you.

And first bath.... lots of hands trying to get little Evelyn clean.

Winter Fun

In the past month, we have headed to New Richmond twice to meet up with all of the cousins and go sledding at the elementary school hill.  The kids absolutely love it, and I am so impressed with how long they last out there and how they all pull their sleds back up that long hill over and over again without complaining.

Ella and Maggie are best friends when they are together.  It is pretty sweet.
We have also tried ice skating a few times.  Lauren is really getting the hang of gliding, and Ella does great staying up on her double blades.

New Experiences

Now that Luca is a little older, he is getting in on more activities with the girls.  In the past month he has learned how to fingerpaint and play with Play-doh.  Of course this means a little more stress for mom, but he is enjoying it!

He was a bit skeptical on getting his hands dirty at first, but he figured it out pretty quickly!
